FABULOUS HOME FRIDAY: PATINA BEAUTY IN OJAI

Patina Farm, is the vision of Brooke and Steve Giannetti, a husband-and-wife team – he’s an architect, she’s a decorator. For over a year, following Brooke’s Velvet & Linen blog she has shared the progress of their oasis in Ojai. Its a delight to see the feature in Veranda and completion of this charming but beautiful home that has heart.  You will notice that the spaces flow seamlessly between the exterior and interior, capturing the best of both worlds. The home sits in a rural setting on four and a half acres of undulant meadow, lending the impression that the property was a product of generational tending rather than a 2012 edifice. As you scroll through the images, you will see the important attention centered around making each space livable, evident by Steve designing the rooms of the home from the inside out. The furnishings consist of Belgian and Swedish vintage pieces – with soft fabrics in neutral palettes. Throughout the home applied finishes and paint were scarce if used at all keeping the overall look organic, the name Patina Farm was given for this reason – their love of allowing natural materials to age over time.

The Gracie hand-painted chinoiserie panels conceal an entertainment unit – a clever design that pairs perfectly with the perfumed landscape of white roses.

By eliminating the upper cabinetry in the kitchen, a better sense of flow with adjoining rooms is natural – with a feel that is more complimentary rather than the traditional distinct separation a kitchen imposes within a home.
