FABULOUS HOME FRIDAY: REMEMBERING OSCAR DE LA RENTA
In honor of one of my favorite designers, Oscar de la Renta; a gentleman of unmatched style and according to close friends, “the most thoughtful person they’ve ever known.” Today’s post is on his Kent, Connecticut home that he purchased back in 1971 with his wife Annette of 22 years and their eight rescue dogs. This home sat on a beautiful site which is why Oscar bought it; his retreat from the city. Oscar and Annette loved this home but mostly loved working and sharing the garden together.
Most well known for his couture gowns and dressing the most elite, including Presidential wives beginning with Jacqueline Kennedy to the lovely Laura Bush. Oscar also knew the art of curating beautiful homes, collaborating with well known Interior Designers like Miles Redd on a home collection. I think Hebe Dorsey said it perfectly; “Oscar is romantic,” Vogue in 1982. “Not only does he look and project romantic, he also delivers romantic clothes for romantic women on both sides of the Atlantic.” Here’s to you Oscar, a man who made life beautiful!
